In this blogpost I share with you my tarot end of year spread that I’ve been using for the last couple of years.
The above image gives an overview of the layout of this spread. Four cards for the top row, two in the next en one final card on the bottom row. Before you lay this spread (ideally around the end of December, though January also works fine), take some time to center yourself. For example by means of a short (candle) meditation. It doesn’t have to be long. Afterwards, pull the necessary cards for this spread.
Here’s a little bit more context for each card position:
1). Overall strength of this year
This card symoblizes your power of the year that is coming to a close.
2). Area of improvement
The card you pull here will indicate in which area you’ve experienced growth over the last year.
3). Major accomplishment
This card represents last year’s big step or achievement.
4). Most potent lesson of this year
What was the most important lesson you had to learn this past year? This card will tell you.
5. What to release
This card will give you insight on what you are invited to release when transitioning into the new year.
6. What energy to bring forward into the new year
What energy can you take with and invite in the year to come? The card you pull here will give you more insight.
7. Guiding message for the new year
The final card you pull will give you guidance and advice for the new year.
When you’re interpreting the cards, really try to listen to your intuition. Make notes of things that you notice when looking at the card. What feeling does it give you? Are there any words or phrases that come to mind? If the message of a card remains unclear to you, you can always pull an additional card to ask for clarification. Good luck!
